Machine Strategy and Concept

Our strategy is to grab balls from the slot, drive them across the arena and drop them into the funnel. We will use a sweeping arm and a scoop to complete this strategy.

There are two sliding slots on each side of the car frame and two small wheels on each side of the platform. The pulley system allows the central platform to slide up and down against the slots. While the sliding slots support vertical motion, horizontal motion of the sweeping arm is supported by the rack and pinion located on the central platform. The scoop is fixed to the platform. The sweeping arm has an adjustable area in the middle to accommodate the inclined surface inside the slot when it is in motion.
